NO MORE WINDOW WORRIES AT WEMBLEY

Oct 31 2014

A great view is always a fabulous selling point, and sights don’t come more recognisable or impressive than that of the world-famous Wembley Stadium. This historic venue provides the view for visitors to the Wembley Hilton hotel, with the iconic structure situated mere metres away. There was a problem however – all too often, glare was ruining the view. With decades of experience to call on, The Window Film Company were approached to deliver a solution.

The Wembley Hilton boasts sleek and stylish floor to ceiling glass, affording visitors superb views of one of the most famous venues on earth. Wembley Stadium has played host to the most well-known and influential names in entertainment and sport, and a view of the enormous arch is one of the major benefits of the venue. Whilst the large windows provided a hugely impressive look and feel, they were often subject to glare, with the position of the sun making it uncomfortable for guests and staff alike.

A solution was sought that would solve the glare issue whilst also maintaining the elegant appearance of the hotel, both inside and out. The Window Film Company were able to offer their Optivision range of products as the answer. These films have been specially developed to combat the unwanted side effects of the sun (which can also include excess heat and fading), whilst also delivering a more neutral appearance when applied to the glass.

After discussions about the range of film and it’s suitability for the job, working samples of the different grades of Optivision were sent to the hotel, allowing the client to experience the film in situ and to gain a complete, first hand understanding of how the film looks and performs in varying conditions and at different times of day.

After trialling each film on the affected glass, it was agreed that Optivision 35 would deliver the most appropriate appearance and level of performance. A medium level film, it delivers a range of benefits including solar control and fade mitigation whilst reducing glare by around 60%. As well as the high performance levels, this film is notable as it delivers a neutral internal appearance, a vital part of the project as the impressive view to the exterior needed to be maintained.

The Optivision range of films also perform well in darker light. Other window films can take on a reflective appearance on the interior face when the light balance changes and it’s lighter inside than it is outside. The advanced nature of this range of films mean that the neutral appearance is maintained when light gives way to dark, ensuring that guests are treated to a majestic view no matter the time of day or night.

The film was fitted to the interior of the glass by one of The Window Film Company’s teams of installers. Operating nationwide, the fitting teams are qualified in every aspect of the fitting of window film whilst their experience allows them to fit in busy locations such as hotels with the minimum of intrusion or disruption. The work took place at a time agreed with the hotel, with the timings agreed specifically to ensure the minimum of disruption for guests and visitors.

With the film installed, the effect was instant. The edge was taken off the sunlight without sacrificing the natural light that the hotel enjoyed and perhaps most importantly of all, without blocking the panoramic view of one of the most iconic venues on the planet.
