Stunning Stained Glass

The Window Film Company uses the best quality films and state of the art wide-format printing technology to create stunning printed graphics for glazing and walls. This recent project saw the creation and installation of a stunning stained-glass effect for a church in Guildford.

Having been approached to provide a solution for turning plain, standard glass into something with the appearance of traditional stained glass, The Window Film Company were able to suggest printing in full colour onto an optically clear window film – a solution that would deliver the striking appearance desired, while also allowing for excellent levels of natural light to pass through the glass, helping to deliver the authentic stained glass look.

As the name suggests, optically clear film begins life as a completely transparent product that can be printed to feature full or partial coverage. This method is incredibly popular and effective as it allows for the creation of what appear to be intricate cut graphics, with only the printed parts of the film visible after installation.

For this project, the stained glass designs had been custom created on behalf of the church and in turned passed on to The Window Film Company’s dedicated print and graphics team. Using the window dimensions, the team were able to create perfectly sized, full colour panels for installation to the glass.

As you can see form the images, the final appearance is stunning. The detail is replicated in perfect, crystal clear detail, with the properties of the film meaning that sunlight passes through the glass to deliver the realistic appearance of stained glass; the coloured light projecting onto the floor is an additional welcome benefit.

Printing on optically clear is a perfect solution for adding graphics to shopfronts or partitions, with ability to create the appearance of cut graphics, in turn providing a view to the inside a massive benefit, particularly in retail settings.
