SOLAR CONTROL AND FADE PROTECTION FILM

Jul 19 2024

As experts and industry leaders in the supply and installation of solar control window films, one of the questions we are frequently asked is whether heat reduction window film will block the view, make it dark, or result in it feeling excessively cold. The answer, as this project goes some way to illustrating, is a categorical no!

To confirm, while an application of solar control window film will alter the appearance of your glass, it won’t result in losing the daylight view, won’t see you sacrifice excess light and will not make rooms feel unnecessarily cold.

This installation took place at a residential property in South-West London and saw the application of Climate 50 window film to a number of large glass panes and rooflights throughout the property.

As the images show, vision is still visible from the inside out and light is still able to pass through the glass and into the property.

The film works by reflecting away a percentage of the sun’s energy, stopping all of it rom passing through the glass and adding to the internal temperature. This stops the steady build up of heat throughout the day and can prevent unpleasant and uncomfortable temperatures. This can be particularly prevalent in locations with large quantities of glass, such as conservatories and garden rooms.

In addition to reducing excess heat, these high-performance window films also cut down on glare (an issue that can be a problem all year round due to the changing location of the sun) and will also slow down the damaging effects of fading. This is achieved by blocking up to 99% of the sun’s UV rays. It’s these UV rays that are the single biggest contributing factor when it comes to fading.
