How does heat reduction window film work?

Heat reduction window films from The Window Film Company work by reflecting away a percentage of the sun’s solar energy (heat before it can pass through the glass. This simple yet highly effective process prevents the steady build up of excess heat that ultimately results in unpleasant and uncomfortable temperatures.

A percentage of heat is prevented from passing through the glass – not all of it – and the amount of heat rejection will depend on the type of film chosen. There is a wide range available, with the appearance also varying from film to film.

Will the film make my property dark or cold?

The best way to describe the visual effect is to imagine putting a light pair of sunglasses on your glass! The film will change the look, and alter the light levels – this is required to deliver the heat reduction, but on a nice bright sunny day, you can be assured that it will still feel light and bright inside.

The film also prevents a percentage of the heat from passing through the glass and inside, it doesn’t stop all of it, so fears of the film making the internal temperature too low are unfounded.
