The Window Film Company supply and install highly effective heat reduction window films, that also allow daytime vision from the inside out.
Premises continue to feature glass frontages for a range of reasons. They provide a contemporary, stylish look. They allow for excellent levels of natural light inside the building, and they also allow for a view to the exterior from the inside. Despite all these clear and desirable benefits, large expanses of glass can also result in a fast build up of internal heat; especially during peak summer months. An application of solar control window film from The Window Film Company can help alleviate the issue.
This project required an installation of heat reduction film at a modern office building in Bedfordshire. The frontage was entirely comprised of glass and as a result, the internal temperature was rising to potentially uncomfortable levels. Other solutions are undesirable for a number of reasons. Air conditioning is expensive to install, expensive to run and harmful to the environment. More traditional methods such as blinds are ineffective (they are set back from the glass, so allow the heat to enter the room, unlike window film) and also block the view when drawn.
Heat control window film from The Window Film Company works by reflecting away a percentage of the sun’s energy. This is done by the mirrored appearance of the film, it effectively bounces away a percentage of the sun’s solar energy before it can pass through the glass and add to the internal temperature. The film therefore slows down the build-up of heat, helping to manage the internal temperature, all without sacrificing high levels of natural light or blocking the daytime view to the outside.
For this project, it was agreed that the most effective product would be High Reflective Silver; The Window Film Company’s highest performing solar control film. Once in place, the film serves to reject up to 78% of the sun’s solar energy, while also reducing glare by up to 79% and blocking up to 99% of UV rays – the biggest single contributing factor to fade damage.
The film was applied to over 50 large panels throughout the premises and was effective immediately, providing effective solar control via a sleek and stylish external mirrored finish, and achieving solar control without sacrificing natural light and blocking the view out during daylight hours.
