Excess heat can be serious problem, so for those that experience it, whether it being a conservatory that is too hot or a workplace that is uncomfortable, the question we often hear is “can window film help reduce heat?”
We’re pleased to confirm that the answer is a resounding yes.
Window film from The Window Film Company is an effective way of reducing heat. It works by rejecting a percentage of the sun’s solar energy, preventing it from passing through the glass and relentlessly adding to the internal temperature. By reducing the amount of solar energy passing through glass, window film ensures that rooms aren’t left cold, instead are able to benefit from reduced excess heat.
This was the solution sought by the owners of a large Studio space in London. The property has a stylish, curved glass frontage which serves to give the property a sleek and contemporary appearance, while also allowing for excellent levels of natural light to pass through and into the studio.
While the large quantity of glazing delivered both aesthetic and operational benefits, it also meant that on bright days, the heat could rise to uncomfortable levels. Blinds wouldn’t be appropriate as not only do they block the view and natural light when shut, but the fact that they are set back from the glazing mean that the solar energy is still able to pass through the glass, adding to the internal temperature. Air conditioning is expensive to install, run and maintain as well as being damaging to the environment, so window film from The Window Film Company was chosen as the most appropriate solution.
The film selected for installation was a high performance option called Climate 50. Part of the specialist range of Climate window films supplied and installed by The Window Film Company, this film has been developed to deliver exceptional solar control benefits (including reducing glare by up to 43% and rejecting up to 99% of potentially harmful UV rays) while also having a less impactful appearance once installed. While this film will still give the glazing an increased sheen and a level of reflectivity, this window film is more neutral in terms of its fitted appearance.
The film was installed by a team of The Window Film Company’s fitting crews, utilising access equipment to reach upper section panels.
Once in place, the film was effective immediately, delivering high performance excess heat reduction, while also reducing glare and filtering UV rays – all while allowing for excellent levels of natural light to still pass through the glass, protecting the light and airy internal environment.
