One-way graphics are the perfect way of giving glazing a striking new look, while also providing privacy. To achieve this effect, The Window Film Company printed and installed Contra Vision window film as part of an office fit—out project in Buckinghamshire.
The Window Film Company were engaged by Hydropac, a Bucks based manufacturer of ice packs and temperature controlled shipping solutions, who required a window film and graphics in a number of different locations in their large premises.
On the first floor, manifestation markings were required on a number of glass doors and partitions. These markings are required by building regulations and are necessary to make large panes of glass easily visible, in turn serving to prevent accidents. Regulations dictate that these markings must be present at two locations on the glass (between 850mm and 1000mm and between 1400mm and 1600mm above the floor) and must also provide a clear and easily identifiable contrast with he background. There is also a minimum size, but apart from these stipulations, manifestation can be any shape or style.
Hydropac took the opportunity to create bespoke manifestation markings, with a part of their logo, a frost icon, used on some of the glazing. The remaining manifestation was created to feature the various brand names that the company uses throughout their operations. The frost icon was created by computer cutting the design from Frostbrite frosted window film, with the text created in a similar way; the lettering cut from a solid band of frosted film. The end result was manifestation requirements being met, with stylish branding elements incorporated into the glass throughout.
The second part of the project was a requirement for graphics that would block the view from the outside in, while maintaining a view from the inside out. This are of the premises was in the foyer, so immediately visible - with this in mind it was vital that the glazing looked professional, eye-catching and welcoming.
It was agreed that the best solution would be Contra Vision. This specialist window film is perforated, with the hundreds of small holes serving to allow vision out from one side, while the printed side blocks the view in; the eye seeing only the printed graphics. Hydropac were able to supply bespoke created artwork, allowing The Window Film Company’s in-house print and graphics team to create each of the panels, incorporating the edge gap to ensure the pattern flowed perfectly from panel to panel.
The panels were printed using state of the art latex printer technology, before being precision computer cut and finally checked by hand ahead of installation.
The film was fitted by a team of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified and vastly experienced installers, with the work taking place at a time and date organised by The Window Film Company’s dedicated operations team.
The end result was a range of stylish and professional manifestation markings throughout the top floor, and a striking, full colour display in the entrance area, providing the necessary privacy as well as a bright, vibrant new look.
