BEATING BRIGHTON HEAT

The Window Film Company has installed solar control and privacy window film at a specialist swim facility near Brighton seafront.

The location for this project was a high performance swim centre, so when they realised they needed a high performance window film, the owners knew where to come! The requirement was for an effective heat reduction film, as well as a product that would provide privacy elsewhere at the facility.

The excess heat was caused by sunlight streaming unchecked into the building, which quickly made the facility feel hot and potentially customers for visitors and staff. A solution was sought, and with an understanding of the situation, an Account Manager at The Window Film Company was able to recommend High reflective Silver as the most appropriate solution.

High Reflective Silver window film has a mirrored external effect during daylight hours, and it’s this reflective appearance that serves to bounce away a percentage of the sun’s energy before it can pass through the glass and add to the internal temperature. By rejecting some of the sun’s heat, it ensures that the inside doesn’t get cold, instead helping to maintain a mode moderate and comfortable temperature without resorting to blinds (which block the view) or air conditioning, which can be expensive and harmful to the environment.

The film has the added benefit of providing a stylish external appearance, a vital consideration for a state of the art facility such as this, delivering excellent levels of heat reduction without sacrificing natural light. The film also reduces glare, which can be a year round problem, and also filters out 99% of the sun’s potentially harmful UV rays - one of the main contributing factors to fading.

Solar control film was installed by a team of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified and vastly experienced fitting crews to 20 panels throughout the facility, fitting Frostbrite frosted window film as a privacy solution to a further four windows.

Once installed, Frostbrite frosted film gives glass the appearance of acid etched or sandblasted glass, a stylish way of blocking the view from both sides of the glass - again without sacrificing excess levels of natural light.

With both films in place, the facility began realising the benefits straight away, with both films effective immediately, providing high levels of performance and a stylish aesthetic finish.
