Since being founded in 1998, The Window Film Company has fitted window film in iconic and interesting locations such as the Tower of London and Lord’s Cricket Ground, and are continually excited and proud to be asked to complete projects at eye-catching premises. This stunning home, requiring a solution for heat and fading, was another prime example.

The owner of this extraordinary property in Oxfordshire contacted The Window Film Company for advice and a solution on reducing excess heat and helloing to control the effects of fading - two unwanted side effects of the extensive use of stylish glazing throughout.

In warm weather, if left unchecked, heat will pass through glass, steadily adding to the internal temperature until eventually it become uncomfortable. The more glass there is, the worse the issue can be, and with this property featuring a large number of large glazed panels, the potential for regular overheating was clear. Traditional methods for reducing heat such as closing blinds or curtains are undesirable as by doing so, natural light and the view is blocked. Another option - air conditioning - is expensive and potentially damaging for the environment. Window film can provide effective heat reduction without any of these negative issues being a problem.

Another unwanted side effect can be fading. Caused by a combination of heat, light and UV rays, fading can do damage to upholstery, flooring and furniture, with the three elements streaming through glass and combining to do do irreversible damage. Solar control window film from The Window Film Company has the added benefit of blocking 99% of the sun’s UV rays - the biggest contributing factor to fading.

After lengthy discussions with the owner, it was agreed that the most appropriate film would be Climate 50. A highly advanced film, specially developed to deliver high levels of solar control and a stylish external appearance, all without sacrificing natural light or a view from the inside.

The film was installed by a team of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified fitters, with the film applied to over 250 square metres. As you can see form the pictures, the effect was in keeping with the stylish aesthetic of the unique property, with the film effective as soon as it was in place.
