FIGHTING FADING AT HOME

Sep 07 2018

For any premises with windows, fading can be an issue. A range of factors combine to cause irreversible damage to flooring, furniture, artwork and other belongings, with the harm often only visible when it is already too late. Specialist window film from The Window Film Company can help alleviate the problem, and was used for an installation at a large family home in London.

Fading is caused by three major elements; UV light, visible light and heat. Of these, UV light is the biggest contributing factor, accounting for 40% of the total causes of fading. This can be combatted with an application of Clear UV window film; a specially developed film that blocks virtually all UV rays despite being completely clear in appearance.

By installing this film and blocking up to 99.8% of damaging UV rays it’s possible to dramatically lessen the impact of fading without changing the appearance of glass. This makes it an appealing choice for homeowners or retailers who need protection without obstructing the view afforded by their windows.

As part of this project, film was applied by one of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified and vastly experienced fitting teams to over 150 panes of varying sizes.

Once fitted the film was effective immediately, serving to reduce the impact of fading without any aesthetic impact and providing the homeowner with undetectable but effective protection against the negative impact of the suns UV rays.
