TACKLING GLARE AT THE GROCERS

Nov 09 2018

The Optiview range of solar control window films from The Window Film Company are a high-performance collection of advanced films, and provided the perfect solution for excess glare and heat at this London shop and café.

Glare can be a year-round issue, especially for premises with large windows, and this was the case ta Melrose and Morgan in Hampstead. Despite the shorter daylight hours, glare can be particularly acute during the winter, with the lower lying position of the sun potentially causing an uncomfortable environment for customers, diners and staff.

The Optiview range of window films help with glare by filtering the harshest of the light, immediately creating a more pleasant internal environment without sacrificing natural light. Optiview also helps with excess heat; another problem for premises with large windows or glass frontages. The heat reduction is achieved by a combination of reflectivity and absorption.

As well as the glass frontage, the premises benefited from a number of glass rooflights that exacerbated the glare and heat issue, and it was agreed film would be applied to these locations, too.

The film was applied by a team of The Window Film Company’s fully qualified and vastly experience fitting teams, who were also tasked with removing a now redundant layer of film from a number of the panes.

Once installed, the film was effective immediately, with the film giving the glass an additional sheen and shine without blocking the view from the inside or out.
