The Window Film Company was approached by a facilities management company to supply a solution to a range of issues, namely privacy, heat, glare and branding. The firm had recently moved into new premises and the windows at the front of the office were causing problems.
During warm periods, solar energy was streaming through the glass and causing the internal temperature to rise to uncomfortable levels, while glare was a year-round problem. Privacy was also a concern, with passers-by afforded an unchecked view into the office, while it was also felt that the glazing should feature the company branding and other details.
The Window Film Company recommended a dual application to deliver the most effective and cost efficient solution. Each of the issues could be addressed by applying two films, namely Frostbrite frosted film and High Reflective Silver – a specialist solar control product.
Once applied, Frostbrite frosted film gives glazing the appearance of acid-etched or sandblasted glass, delivering a stylish and contemporary privacy solution. It can also be printed to feature bespoke designs or graphics, making it ideal for creating the display sought by the customer. With the privacy and branding aspect covered, the glare and excess heat problem as addressed with an application of High Reflective Silver. This film works by filtering out the harshest light, reducing glare by up to 81%. In addition, the reflective appearance of the film means solar energy is bounced back before it has an opportunity to enter the property and adversely affect the temperature. As an additional bonus, this film also blocks 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays, serving to protect against fading.
The graphics were printed and prepared by The Window Film Company’s in-house print and graphics team, before being installed, along with the High Reflective Silver, to the internal face of the glass. The end result saw the windows transformed to feature the company name and contact details, with the view from the outside in obstructed to deliver privacy. The internal environment was improved immediately, with previously disruptive glare reduced and protection against excess heat build-up in place.
