MAKE A MARK WITH MANIFESTATION

May 05 2017

Office branding and decoration is increasingly being accepted as a vital part of the workplace environment, ensuring a smart professional look, while also creating a space that staff feel comfortable in and inspired by. Applying bespoke printed graphics to glass partitions is an effective way of achieving this, as this project in London illustrates.

The job required the application of printed graphics to 17 panels throughout the office, with the aim of meeting two requirements. Firstly, to provide a professional looking decorative theme throughout the premises and secondly, to meet manifestation requirements.

Building regulations dictate that glass of a certain size feature markings to make sure the glazing is visible. These markings are known as manifestation and they must be placed at specific locations on the glass, to ensure that they are always clearly seen. One of the most popular ways to meet manifestation requirements is to apply a band of window film.

By applying a band of window film to glass it is possible to cover both critical locations with a single application. It also provides an opportunity to add bespoke printed graphics – an option utilised by the client. The artwork was supplied to The Window Film Company’s in house graphics and print team, who set about adjusting the contrast and tone of the graphics to ensure the best possible appearance once installed. The graphics were to be printed on Frostbrite frosted film, a high performance privacy film that gives glass the appearance of acid etched or sandblasted glass when applied. Samples of the graphics were printed and supplied to the customer, who was then able to observe the slightly different options on the actual glass.

With the final artwork approved, production began. The film was printed using state of the art UV print technology, delivering a crisp, bright and vivid finish. Each of the 17 panels was then trimmed and checked by hand, ensuring that each section was created and finished perfectly.

The panels were then installed by one of The Window Film Company’s fitting teams; the experience of the team allowing the project to be completed with the minimum of disruption to the busy office.

Once installed, the office was totally transformed, with the graphics, featuring the company branding and logo a running theme throughout the premises. The design delivered not only a strong brand representation, but also a stylish and aesthetically pleasing finish.  The power and impact of bespoke printed graphics were clear for all to see.
