Fading is an all too common problem. Heat and light combine with the UV rays in sunlight to discolour equipment, furniture, upholstery and belongings, causing irreparable damage to almost anything continually exposed to direct sunlight. While it is important to note that the only way to stop fading completely would be to block sunlight entirely, there are a range of window films available that will help alleviate the issue without sacrificing light of the view.
The owners of a Country house in Hampshire wanted to take action and contacted The Window Film Company for advice and assistance. Discussions revealed that any solution should maintain both the view and in and out of the property, with as much natural light allowed to pass through the glass as possible.
Given the stunning location and the aesthetic requirements, it was agreed that Clear UV would be the most appropriate film choice. Once applied the film is almost completely undetectable to the naked eye, providing an interrupted view while, crucially, blocking 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays. It is these rays that are the biggest contributing factor to the fading process, so by blocking the majority of UV, the impact of fading can be slowed down and reduced.
The film was applied to 25 individual panes, with each panel carefully installed by one of The Window Company’s fully qualified and vastly experienced fitting teams. Each piece was carefully cut to size before being trimmed to the exact dimensions of the window to ensure maximum coverage and the best possible performance.
Once in place, the film was effective immediately – providing a virtually invisible barrier to harmful UV rays, while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of a beautiful period property.
