PETERBOROUGH PROBLEM SOLVED

Mar 31 2017

Simply put, big windows can mean big issues when it comes to heat and glare. Left unchecked, the sun’s energy can pass through glass, quickly creating an uncomfortably warm temperature or an unpleasant working environment because of glare. A Peterborough based facility was facing these exact issues and contacted The Window Film Company for a solution.

The premises boasted a number of very large panels of glass, giving the exterior a sleek and stylish look while affording those inside an excellent view out and superb levels of natural light. A solution was sought that would alleviate the negative issues without impacting on any of the positive aspects of the large expanses of glass.

A review of the project revealed that for eight of the panels, an internal application of film wasn’t possible. Also, due to the first storey position of the glass, a 5 metre scaffold tower would be required for the installation. The film chosen for this part of the project was an external version of High Reflective Silver. Designed and developed specifically for external use, the film rejects up to 78% of solar energy while reducing glare by 83%.

For the internal part of the project, standard High Reflective Silver was chosen. With similar performance figures to the external version, both films will deliver excellent heat protection and glare reduction. Other grades of the film will also reject 99% of the sun’s UV light, helping to slow down the fading process.

The installation was carried out on a date agreed between The Window Film Company’s Operations team and the client, with the timing agreed to ensure the minimum of disruption to the busy premises. The work was carried out by one of The Window Film Company’s qualified and experienced fitting teams, who applied film to over 16 square metres externally, before installing a further 20 square metres internally.

Once installed, the film was effective immediately, reflecting away heat before it could enter the building and filtering out the harshest of the light to reduce glare and make a more comfortable internal environment. The view to the outside was maintained and despite the glare being markedly reduced, superb levels of natural light was still allowed to pass into the building. The mirrored appearance of the film also made sure that the pleasing aesthetic of the property was maintained.

If your home or premises are too hot, an application of window film is a cost efficient, highly effective and long lasting way of alleviating the problem. For more information on how The Window Film Company can help, contact a member of our team today on 01494 794477 or email info@windowfilm.co.uk.
