KEEPING COOL BY THE POOL

Having a personal swimming pool is a dream for many, with the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely swim in the comfort of your own home a benefit many of us would gratefully accept. The location and style of such a facility can cause issues however, and with many residential swimming pools featuring large windows, heat can be a major problem. 

That was the case at a Surrey based property and The Window Film Company was approached to help. The pool was located in a conservatory-style extension, with a glass roof and a large expanse of glazing facing out to the rear of the property. While the windows allowed for fantastic levels of natural light, they also resulted in the room becoming uncomfortably hot during the summer months.

An application of solar control window film is an effective solution, and after discussions with the client it was agreed that High Reflective Silver would be applied to the ten large windows in the pool room. The film was applied to the internal face of the glass and once installed began delivering results immediately. The film’s reflective appearance bounces away a percentage of the sun’s energy, preventing it from entering the property. By doing so, it stops the room from steadily heating up, which is what happens when glass is left untreated. Simply put, without window film -solar energy floods through the glass, causing the internal temperature to continually rise until it reaches uncomfortable levels.

The result was an aesthetically pleasing and stylish appearance, in keeping with the modern look of the property, while the film immediately began serving to maintain a moderate and enjoyable internal temperature all year round.
