The Beslize Village housed business specialises in 20th and 21st century art as well as ceramics, so protecting these valuable pieces from any sort of damage was a primary concern. Fading is caused by three main factors; heat, light and UV rays. Of these contributing factors, it is the sun’s UV rays that do the most damage. Therefore, if it is possible to block or filter these rays, it’s possible to considerably slow down the fading process.
As well as protecting the valuable pieces within, the second consideration was to maintain the view through the windows –as a gallery, it was vital that passers-by were afforded a view inside. Taking into account these requirements, it was possible for The Window Film Company to recommend and install Clear UV window film. Once installed, the film is virtually undetectable to the eye and can be easily applied to the inside of the glass. The film blocks around 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays and is effective immediately, serving to protect against the fading process as soon as it is in place.
The film was applied to several large panes at the front of the property by a team of The Window Film Company’s experienced fitters. The size of some the windows meant that two pieces of film were required per pane, with the installation technician able to create a virtually invisible join and an aesthetically pleasing finish.
With the film in place the proprietor could relax, safe in the knowledge that while to the naked eye nothing had changed, in reality, the precious art within was protected.
