Glare can be a problem all year round, with the strong daylight of the summer and the low lying sun of winter often making conditions in commercial and residential properties uncomfortable. The problem can be exacerbated in buildings with large windows, such as those at an Enfield property, prompting the owners to contact The Window Film Company for a solution.
As with many modern buildings, the home boasted a number of large windows, the large expanses of glass providing fantastic views, allowing for a fantastic amount of natural light and delivering a sleek appearance to the exterior. Despite the obvious positives, glare was a real issue within the home and with summer approaching, an effective resolution was sought.
After discussions with one of The Window Film Company’s trained Account Managers, it was agreed that High reflective Silver was the most appropriate choice of film. The film is an effective film with reflective properties that filter out the sun’s harsh light, whilst also serving to maintain a moderate temperature within the property - solar gain is also a common problem in properties with large windows.
In discussing the logistics of the job, it became clear that blinds had been affixed to the internal window frames meaning that a successful installation of window film would be difficult. It was agreed that an external application would take place, using an external grade High Reflective Silver, a film specially designed to function outside whilst still offering the same high levels of performance.
In addition to solar control and glare reduction, both internal and external grades of High Reflective Silver reject up to 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays. These rays are the largest contributing factor to fading, so an application of film will help to slow down the fading process - protecting upholstery, flooring and furnishings.
A total of seventeen large panes required attention, with each of the panes requiring access via scaffold. This and all other logistical issues handled by The Window Film Company’s dedicated Operations Team. The installation itself was carried out by a fully trained and qualified fitting teams - each and every team is PASMA trained, the standard qualification for working at height.
The work was carried over the course of a day, with the film carefully cut and installed on site. The finished installation saw the windows given a sleek, modern appearance in line with the rest of the property, whilst the glare reduction was effective immediately, allowing those inside the property to enjoy the bright days ahead without the fear of eyestrain and other glare related discomfort.
