WINDOW FILM COMPANY LIGHTS THE WAY

Having an in-house print and design studio allows The Window Film Company to provide a flexible service for clients, including the option to, where necessary, help with the design process. This was an option utilised by a Midlands based school, who asked us to help with both design and film choice.

The brief was for a film that would provide a decorative element to 8 windows in a specific area of the school. After the performance and appearance of each film was explained, it was agreed that the film used would be Frostbrite frosted film. Frostbrite gives glass the appearance of acid etched or sandblasted glass, at a fraction of the cost. The film will prevent vision from both sides of the glass delivering privacy, but also allows a good level of natural light to pass through, ensuring that the film doesn’t result in premises feeling dark and unwelcoming.

Frostbrite is a high quality, long lasting and durable film that also benefits from being suitable for computer cutting and printing, allowing for the creation of bespoke designs and features. For this job it was agreed that the design would be cut from the frosted film. At this stage, all that remained was to decide on a design. The school wanted a lighthouse to be the focal point of the design, but didn’t have any artwork, so The Window Film Company’s graphics team began work on producing a number of designs for approval.

Proofs were supplied and a design selected, allowing the film to be prepared and cut. As with the design, this process takes place at The Window Film Company’s Buckinghamshire headquarters – carrying out the work in house ensures that the film is prepared to the highest possible standard.

The installation date was agreed, and the fitting was conducted at a time chosen to ensure the minimum of disruption to the daily operation of the school.

The finished job provides the windows with an eye-catching, impressive and professional looking feature, making the windows a point of interest for pupils, whilst also delivering an element of privacy.
