With a late burst of (more than welcome!) September sun, our installation teams have remained busy fitting a variety of solar control film across the country. Commercial properties with large windows and Conservatories are a regular port of call, with the large expanses of glass serving to magnify the heat generated by the sun, making rooms uncomfortable and often unusable.

The film works by reflecting away and absorbing the sun’s energy, stopping it from entering the room and heating it up throughout the day. The film won’t make the room feel dark, or indeed cold – the film allows a good level of light to pass through whilst maintaining a pleasant ambient temperature.

Solar control film is available in different grades with differing levels of performance available. The film is also available in different colours and finishes, meaning there is a solar film that will meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.  

As well as heat, window film can help in other situations. Fading is caused by a three major factors; heat, light and UV rays. An application of solar control window film can help combat all three, providing an effective barrier to fading. This can help protect upholstery, furnishings and other valuable equipment.

Whilst warmth from the sun is at a premium during the winter months, the low lying position of the sun can mean glare remains a troublesome issue. Glare can make it hard to read, to see TV screens or monitors, it can also make it difficult to hold conversations with friends or colleagues – the sun’s light putting unwelcome strain on the eyes. An application of window film will help cut down on glare by up to 94%, instantly creating a ore pleasant environment without sacrificing light or the view.
