THE APPLIANCE OF SCIENCE (AND WINDOW FILM!)

Feb 07 2013

Here at The Window Film Company, we pride ourselves in offering a wide range of products which can be used in an increasingly diverse range of situations. We particularly enjoy being involved in jobs when our products are put to imaginative use, and that was the situation as we completed a large scale project at a Berkshire school recently.

We were asked by our client to help with the fit out of a brand new science block, which was nearing completion. The school wanted the new building to be state of the art, but also to look aesthetically pleasing and this was where we were able to help. Window film can be used for a range of very functional purposes such as solar control, UV protection, security and privacy, but we’re just as happy creating large scale decorative projects too.

In this instance, the school decided that they would like the periodic table reproduced on the glazing of one side of the block. After liaising with our client and explaining the options, it was decided that we would print each element on optically clear film, with each piece of film cut and installed by one of our professional installation teams.

By printing on optically clear film we were able to create a bright, vivid installation, and by printing the text elements in white ink – an option still not widely available – we were able to really bring the design to life.

The finished product is a fantastic addition to the new building, the periodic table a clear indication of the function of the building, with the bright, colourful and in this case informative design making it a welcoming and visually pleasing place to work and learn.
