NEW FILM FOR NORTHWICK PARK

The Window Film Company has fifteen years’ experience of supplying and installing window film for large scale projects, and that experience was vital in delivering a job for Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow, North West London.

The project required the installation of a range of different films, including a large quantity of safety film, and had to be complete by a strict deadline so required both extensive resources and meticulous planning. Several installation teams were dedicated to working on the project over a three week period, fitting film at times specified by the hospital to ensure minimum disruption during the installation process.

Safety film was required to bring the existing glass up to the necessary EN 12600 2B2 standard, and two varieties of film were used. 100 Micron Clear is a see through safety film, that once applied is virtually undetectable, making it the ideal choice when two way vision is required through the glass. We also offer a reflective version of the same film, which offers the same safety performance with the added benefit of one way privacy, solar protection and glare reduction.

As well as the safety aspect of the job, two rows of manifestation dots were installed to windows  throughout the premises, ensuring that the glazing met the relevant building regulations. The law regarding manifestation requires glass of a certain height to be made visible, and this is achieved by fitting manifestation.  As long as it meets certain criteria, the manifestation can take the form of almost any design, ranging from dots and squares to logos, images and bespoke designs.

The third part of the job involved a decorative requirement. Hospitals are renowned for their long corridors and in a bid to brighten up a number of these, coloured rainbow film was fitted to the windows. We fitted the full spectrum of colours, fitting the next colour in the range to each window as we moved down the corridor. Rainbow window film changes the colour of the glass whilst still allowing vision both ways and allowing light to pass through, making it an efficient and cost effective way of totally transforming the glazing and the atmosphere and feel of the surrounding area.

The varied nature of the film applied along with the quantity, deadlines and the restrictions of working in a large hospital meant that this was a complicated project, but one that The Window Film Company was able to complete on time, on budget and with the minimum of disruption.
