By printing and installing images of iconic Birmingham buildings to storage cupboards in a city centre office, The Window Film Company helped to turn ordinarily uninspiring surfaces into an eye-catching decorative feature.

The project, which also included the application of manifestation to a number of glass partitions, was undertaken to give the Birmingham based office a stylish and professional appearance, by adding floor to ceiling printed graphics to a number of large storage units. The graphics comprise striking images of a number of Birmingham landmarks, chosen as a tribute to the company’s city base.

The surface of the cupboards meant that a printable vinyl would deliver the best adhesion and therefore the best possible finish and lifespan for the graphics. Samples were sent to the client for approval, whilst The Window Film Company’s in-house graphics and print team prepared the imagery for production. With the vinyl approved, printing could commence. This was carried out on one of the Company’s state of the art wide format printers – an Oce Arizona. Using this high performance equipment allows for the perfect reproduction of imagery in large format, meaning no degradation and a pin sharp finish.

With each of the large panels printed, a laminate was applied to the surface of the vinyl. Completely undetectable to the naked eye, the laminate serves to protect the images from possible scratches and scrapes in what is a very busy office. This additional process was especially important for this project as the doors are opened and shut numerous times a day, with this continual usage putting untreated graphics at the risk of damage.

The vinyl and manifestation was fitted by one of The Window Film Company’s teams of installers, with the work carried out to a high standard and with the minimum of fuss. The finished project ensured that the glass partitions met all manifestation regulations, whilst the graphics gave the office an impressive aesthetic finish that would last for years to come.
